Finally Fair-Isle

20141014_132342  One of the things I love about knitting is that there is always something new to learn. After years of dismissing fair-isle patterns as too difficult, I think I get it. With the help of youtube, of course, I could see the stranding and weaving in – not twisting as I had been doing! I managed to make three Christmas baubles so was feeling confident enough to tackle this. OK, I did it on straight needles and adapted the pattern, but that only excites me that there is more to learn. Circular needles, continental style and more.

The best minute was when I picked my daughter up from school wearing my latest creation and she didn’t believe I had made it myself. She is used to seeing me in all kinds of scarves and wraps and hats that definitely look hand-made, but this was the real deal. Result.

Crochet is going to have to take a back seat for a while. I have enough blankets anyway. Christmas jumper next?
